دخل برشلونة المباراة بقوة وفرض أفضليته الهجومية منذ الشوط الأول، وسنحت له عدة فرص محققة للتسجيل، إلا أن اللمسة الأخيرة غابت عن لاعبيه، قبل أن تتاح له فرصة ذهبية للتقدم من ركلة جزاء في الدقائق الأخيرة من الشوط الأول، لكن الشاب لامين يامال أهدرها ليبقى التعادل السلبي قائماً حتى نهاية النصف الأول.
وفي الشوط الثاني واصل الفريق الكتالوني ضغطه، ونجح في افتتاح التسجيل عند الدقيقة 59 عبر مدافعه باو كوبارسي الذي ارتقى لكرة عرضية ووضعها برأسه داخل الشباك، مانحاً برشلونة الأفضلية المستحقة، غير أن جيرونا رد سريعاً، وتمكن مهاجمه ليمار من إدراك التعادل في الدقيقة 62 مستغلاً هجمة مرتدة منظمة، ليعيد المباراة إلى نقطة البداية ويزيد من وتيرة الإثارة.
وقبل نهاية اللقاء بستّ دقائق، نجح بيلتران في تسجيل هدف الفوز لجيرونا عند الدقيقة 84، مستفيداً من هفوة دفاعية، ليقود فريقه إلى انتصار ثمين قلب موازين المنافسة على الصدارة.
وبهذه الخسارة تجمد رصيد برشلونة عند 58 نقطة في المركز الثاني، فيما اعتلى ريال مدريد صدارة الترتيب برصيد 60 نقطة، لتشتعل المنافسة على لقب الليغا مع دخول الموسم مراحله الحاسمة.

However, Girona responded quickly, and their striker Liemar managed to equalize in the 62nd minute, taking advantage of a well-organized counterattack, bringing the match back to square one and increasing the excitement.
With just six minutes remaining in the match, Beltran succeeded in scoring the winning goal for Girona in the 84th minute, benefiting from a defensive mistake, leading his team to a valuable victory that shifted the balance of competition for the top spot.
With this loss, Barcelona’s points remained at 58 in second place, while Real Madrid took the lead in the standings with 60 points, intensifying the competition for the La Liga title as the season enters its crucial stages.
