كشف نائب وزير الصناعة والثروة المعدنية لشؤون التعدين المهندس خالد المديفر، أن مؤتمر التعدين الدولي الذي تستضيفه الرياض غداً، أصبح من أهم منصات الحوار والتعاون الدولي في مجال التعدين والمعادن.
وقال المديفر في مقابلة مع «العربية Business»: «قطاع التعدين السعودي يشهد إقبالاً كبيراً من الشركات العالمية بسبب الفرص الهائلة في القطاع، وعلى سبيل المثال تلقينا أكثر من 26 ألف طلب للمشاركة في النسخة الخامسة من مؤتمر التعدين الدولي ولم نتمكن من الموافقة عليها جميعاً».
وأضاف: «المؤتمر سيبدأ بالاجتماع الوزاري الذي يحضره كبار المسؤولين والوزراء من 103 دول، و70 من قادة المنظمات الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية واتحادات التجارة».
آليات زيادة الإمدادات
وأوضح أن مؤتمر التعدين الدولي أصبح أكبر اجتماع وزاري حكومي بمشاركة المنظمات الدولية في قطاع التعدين.
وأشار إلى أن الاجتماع الوزاري سيناقش آليات زيادة الإمدادات من المعادن من خلال مبادرات مسؤولة تراعي المجتمعات المحلية والبيئة وضوابط الحوكمة والشفافية، إضافة إلى كيفية بناء القدرات في الدول المنتجة من ناحية السياسات وكذلك الموارد البشرية وتوطين التقنية ودعمها من أجل زيادة الإنتاجية.
وذكر أن المؤتمر سيشهد مشاركة أكثر من 400 رئيس شركة من الشركات العالمية العاملة في قطاع التعدين.
مضاعفة معدلات الاستكشاف
وأضاف المديفر: «قطاع التعدين يمثل أهمية كبيرة في رؤية السعودية 2030، إذ يعتبر من أهم القطاعات التي تساهم في تعزيز الاقتصاد الوطني وزيادة الإيرادات الحكومية والاقتصادية في المملكة».
ولفت إلى أن «التعدين كان صناعة هامشية لدى دول العالم، ولكن رؤية 2030 وضعته كصناعة أساسية، لذا فإن المملكة تسبق دول العالم في هذا المجال بنحو 5 سنوات».
وأوضح أن معدلات الاستكشاف في المملكة ارتفعت 5 أضعاف منذ إطلاق رؤية 2030، كما تضاعف حجم الإنفاق على الاستكشاف وعدد الشركات العاملة في قطاع التعدين.
وأفاد أن عدد شركات التعدين في المملكة ارتفع من 6 شركات إلى أكثر من 240 شركة من القطاع الخاص تعمل وتستثمر وتستكشف وتصنع في المملكة وتنتج المعادن، كما تم البدء في تنفيذ العديد من المشاريع في قطاعات الذهب والنحاس والفوسفات.
المعادن الأرضية النادرة
وأوضح أن المؤتمر سيشهد مناقشات حول القطاعات الأساسية مثل الفوسفات والنحاس والألومنيوم، إضافة إلى النقاش حول إنتاج المعادن الأرضية النادرة التي لا تشكل مبيعات كبيرة من المعادن ولكنها من الأساسات الاقتصادية في صناعات التقنية والدفاع والصناعات الأخرى.
وقال المديفر: «التمويل يعتبر من العوامل الأساسية للتوسع بالقطاع، لذا يتم التعاون مع بنوك دولية استثمارية لإنشاء بوابة التمويل لمساعدة الشركات على عرض استثماراتهم ولقاء المستثمرين الماليين».
وأضاف أنه سيتم التركيز أيضاً على مشاريع ريادة الأعمال في قطاع التعدين، إذ تحتاج هذه الصناعة للكثير من التقنيات الحديثة، كما يشهد المؤتمر مشاركة 374 فريقاً من 70 دولة يتنافسون على جوائز كبرى لدعم رواد الأعمال.
موارد كبيرة
وأوضح أن إعلان شركة التعدين العربية السعودية «معادن» عن إضافة 7.8 مليون أونصة من الذهب يمثل نحو 10% من الموارد المكتشفة في المملكة، ويدل على امتلاك المملكة موارد كبيرة لم يتم اكتشافها حتى الآن.
وذكر أن شركة «معادن» أعلنت وجود النحاس والنيكل وعناصر مجموعة البلاتين في خلال عمليات الاستكشاف، وهو ما يمثل أهمية كبيرة، إذ يعتبر النحاس من أهم المواد الإستراتيجية لقطاعات مراكز البيانات والكهرباء والسيارات الكهربائية.
ونوّه المديفر إلى أن الفرص الاستثمارية في قطاع التعدين بالمملكة كبيرة جداً، وعلى سبيل المثال أعلنت شركة «معادن» عن الكثير من الشراكات في هذا المجال، كما تم توفير الكثير من الحوافز لجذب الشركات للاستثمار في القطاع.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining, Engineer Khalid Al-Mudaifer, revealed that the International Mining Conference hosted by Riyadh tomorrow has become one of the most important platforms for dialogue and international cooperation in the field of mining and minerals.
Al-Mudaifer said in an interview with “Al Arabiya Business”: “The Saudi mining sector is witnessing significant interest from global companies due to the enormous opportunities in the sector. For example, we received more than 26,000 requests to participate in the fifth edition of the International Mining Conference, and we were unable to approve them all.”
He added: “The conference will begin with a ministerial meeting attended by senior officials and ministers from 103 countries, along with 70 leaders from international organizations, NGOs, and trade unions.”
Mechanisms to Increase Supplies
He explained that the International Mining Conference has become the largest governmental ministerial meeting with the participation of international organizations in the mining sector.
He pointed out that the ministerial meeting will discuss mechanisms to increase supplies of minerals through responsible initiatives that consider local communities, the environment, governance, and transparency regulations, in addition to how to build capacities in producing countries in terms of policies, human resources, localizing technology, and supporting it to increase productivity.
He mentioned that the conference will witness the participation of more than 400 CEOs from global companies operating in the mining sector.
Doubling Exploration Rates
Al-Mudaifer added: “The mining sector holds significant importance in Saudi Vision 2030, as it is one of the key sectors contributing to enhancing the national economy and increasing government and economic revenues in the Kingdom.”
He noted that “mining was a marginal industry in many countries, but Vision 2030 has positioned it as a core industry, making the Kingdom ahead of other countries in this field by about 5 years.”
He explained that exploration rates in the Kingdom have increased fivefold since the launch of Vision 2030, and spending on exploration and the number of companies operating in the mining sector have also doubled.
He reported that the number of mining companies in the Kingdom has risen from 6 to more than 240 private sector companies that operate, invest, explore, manufacture, and produce minerals in the Kingdom, and many projects have begun in the gold, copper, and phosphate sectors.
Rare Earth Minerals
He explained that the conference will feature discussions on core sectors such as phosphate, copper, and aluminum, in addition to discussions on the production of rare earth minerals, which do not constitute significant sales of minerals but are fundamental to the economic foundations of technology, defense, and other industries.
Al-Mudaifer said: “Financing is considered one of the essential factors for expanding the sector, so we are collaborating with international investment banks to create a financing gateway to help companies showcase their investments and meet financial investors.”
He added that there will also be a focus on entrepreneurship projects in the mining sector, as this industry requires many modern technologies. The conference will see the participation of 374 teams from 70 countries competing for major awards to support entrepreneurs.
Significant Resources
He clarified that the announcement by the Saudi Arabian Mining Company “Ma’aden” of adding 7.8 million ounces of gold represents about 10% of the discovered resources in the Kingdom, indicating that the Kingdom possesses significant undiscovered resources.
He mentioned that “Ma’aden” has announced the presence of copper, nickel, and platinum group elements during exploration operations, which is of great importance, as copper is one of the most strategic materials for data centers, electricity, and electric vehicles.
Al-Mudaifer noted that investment opportunities in the mining sector in the Kingdom are very large. For example, “Ma’aden” has announced many partnerships in this field, and many incentives have been provided to attract companies to invest in the sector.
