أعلنت وزارة النفط في فنزويلا وشركة النفط (بي.دي.في.إس.إيه) التي تديرها الدولة في بيان مشترك، أخيراً، أن الولايات المتحدة وفنزويلا نفذتا عملية مشتركة لإعادة ناقلة النفط مينيرفا إلى المياه الفنزويلية.
وكانت السفينة قد أبحرت «دون دفع أي مقابل أو الحصول على تصريح من السلطات الفنزويلية»، وفقا للبيان.
وكانت ثلاث ناقلات نفط من أصل 11 استأجرتها شركة «شيفرون»، قد أبحرت من فنزويلا باتجاه الولايات المتحدة، وكانت سفينتان أخريان راسيتين في ميناء مصفاة باخو غراندي غربي فنزويلا، بينما كانت الناقلات الست المتبقية في طريقها خالية إلى فنزويلا، وفقاً لبيانات تتبع السفن التي جمعتها «بلومبيرغ» ومنصة المعلومات التجارية Kpler.
استغلال النفط
وأطاحت الولايات المتحدة بمادورو إثر القبض عليه وزوجته من قبل قوات أمريكية خاصة في الثالث من يناير الجاري، ونقله إلى أراضيها لمواجهة تهم الاتجار بالمخدرات.
ولم يخفِ الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب اهتمام واشنطن باستغلال نفط فنزويلا التي تحوز أكبر احتياطات مثبتة للخام في العالم، لكن يعاني قطاعها وبنيته التحتية ضغط العقوبات الأمريكية المفروضة منذ أعوام.
وأعلن ترمب أن شركات النفط العالمية الكبرى تعهدت باستثمار 100 مليار دولار في القطاع في فنزويلا في حقبة ما بعد نيكولاس مادورو، وذلك قبيل لقائه مسؤولي هذه الشركات.
The Venezuelan Ministry of Oil and the state-run oil company (PDVSA) announced in a joint statement that the United States and Venezuela have carried out a joint operation to return the oil tanker Minerva to Venezuelan waters.
The ship had sailed “without paying any fee or obtaining permission from Venezuelan authorities,” according to the statement.
Three oil tankers out of 11 chartered by Chevron had sailed from Venezuela towards the United States, while two other tankers were docked at the Bajo Grande refinery port in western Venezuela, and the remaining six tankers were on their way empty to Venezuela, according to ship tracking data collected by Bloomberg and the trade information platform Kpler.
Exploitation of Oil
The United States ousted Maduro after he and his wife were captured by U.S. special forces on January 3 and transported to U.S. territory to face drug trafficking charges.
U.S. President Donald Trump did not hide Washington’s interest in exploiting Venezuela’s oil, which holds the largest proven crude reserves in the world, but its sector and infrastructure have been under pressure from U.S. sanctions imposed for years.
Trump announced that major global oil companies have pledged to invest $100 billion in the sector in Venezuela in the post-Nicolas Maduro era, just before meeting with officials from these companies.
